NOTES:
Music from Big Pink is the debut album by The Band, released in July 1968. It’s a landmark record, blending rock, folk, country, and R&B, and is often credited with helping birth the Americana movement. Its raw, rootsy sound and cryptic lyrics, largely written by Robbie Robertson with contributions from Richard Manuel and Bob Dylan, marked a shift from the psychedelic excess of the era. Influenced artists like Eric Clapton (who said it inspired Cream’s breakup) and George Harrison. Its lo-fi, organic sound paved the way for roots rock.
